BioVie Reports Phase 2 Long COVID Results Showing Significant Symptom Improvements
Published on September 15, 2026BioVie, a clinical-stage company developing therapies for neurological and neurodegenerative diseases, announced top-line results from its Phase 2 ADDRESS-LC trial evaluating investigational drug candidate bezisterim in patients with Long COVID. In prespecified subgroup analyses submitted to the FDA before data unblinding, patients with a greater baseline symptom burden demonstrated statistically significant improvements across multiple clinically coherent endpoints. The company also reported that bezisterim's safety and tolerability profile was similar to placebo.
Bezisterim is an oral investigational drug that crosses the blood-brain barrier and is believed to reduce inflammation and improve insulin sensitivity. The potential treatment addresses a significant unmet need, with an estimated 17–20 million U.S. adults reportedly living with Long COVID, some experiencing substantial limitations in their daily lives.
